Microdesk was founded in 1994 with a simple mission – to assist Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Owner/Operators (AECO) and GIS firms with overcoming the challenges of implementing and utilizing design, construction and geospatial technology. Today, that mission still holds true, and Microdesk remains a cutting edge technology consultancy with 13 offices worldwide.
Our relationships with industry leading software manufacturers, including Autodesk, IBM, Bluebeam, Panzura, Microsoft, and Eagle Point, make us the most qualified and comprehensive provider of professional services to the industry. We are an Autodesk Platinum Partner, Bluebeam Platinum Partner, and an Authorized Solutions Training Center for Autodesk. Michael oversees all aspects of Microdesk’s sales, marketing, consulting and software development operations. In his capacity as President and CEO, Michael has been instrumental in developing technology plans and implementation strategies for organizations including the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the New York City School Construction Authority, the New York City Department of Education, The New York City Department of Buildings, the Los Angeles Unified School District, The Massachusetts Department of Transportation, and The New York City Department of Transportation, in addition to more than 10 years providing consulting to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Michael has a degree in Computer Information Systems that provides a strong knowledge of computer based decision support systems and database technology. He has coupled this education with extensive work experience in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Geographic Information Systems, Facility and Asset Management as well as Architecture and Building Engineering.
Michael began his career in 1986 working with several Civil Engineering and surveying firms where he was responsible for field survey work and computer aided design. He has a broad range of experience in the use of COGO, data collection, surface modeling, roadway calculations, grading, drainage, profiles and cross sections.
In 1990, Michael began working for a technology consulting firm where he became certified with ESRI’s PC Arc/Info 3.4D, ESRI’s premier PC based GIS product. This experience extended to ArcView and eventually ArcGIS. Prior to co-founding Microdesk in 1994, Michael expanded his experience into the full line of Autodesk AEC and GIS applications.
Jody has been with Microdesk for 14 years, and in that time has worked in a variety of roles, including as a technical specialist providing technical support, training and consulting on numerous civil engineering, surveying and mapping projects.
Jody has a broad range of experience in planning, site analysis, conceptual and final design. He is also experienced in the field-to-finish processes and how to streamline data collection operations and automate drawings in the office. Prior to joining Microdesk, he spent over six years working with civil engineering and surveying firms on projects ranging from residential subdivisions to commercial developments, and as a CAD Manager, was responsible for preparing construction plans.
Jody has an Associates degree in Civil Technology from the University of New Hampshire, Thompson School of Applied Science and has certifications in Consulting and Technical Services Management from Autodesk. He is a frequent presenter at various professional organization meetings and conferences, including Autodesk University.
Prior to beginning Microdesk in 1994, she worked for nine years for a Massachusetts-based Autodesk reseller, providing technical, sales and marketing support for CAD and GIS products. Prior to that she worked for a construction firm as a drafter and land survey technician.
Robin has degrees in Architectural & Building Engineering Technology from Vermont Technical College and in Computer Information Studies from the University of New Hampshire. Today Robin’s primary responsibilities are in finance, strategic planning and in overseeing operations.
Prior to joining Microdesk in May 1997, Kevin worked as a Project Manager and Survey Crew Chief at an engineering firm where he specialized in using Autodesk and Softdesk products for generating design and as-built plans.
Kevin has a broad range of computer and networking expertise. He has extensive experience using AutoCAD, beginning with Release 12, and has implemented AutoCAD and Autodesk products into AEC firms of all sizes. He also has experience developing websites, database systems, and applications with Autodesk Map, Autodesk MapGuide and ESRIïs ArcIMS.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and holds multiple Microsoft certifications.
From 1998 through 2006, Darren held senior financial management positions at rapidly growing software companies in the US and abroad. He has experience helping firms secure venture capital, prepare for an IPO, and consolidate financial operations after mergers and acquisitions. Most recently, Darren served as the Financial Controller of 170 Systems, a leading provider of software solutions that automate and optimize financial processes.
Darren currently serves on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of Mill City Grows, a non-profit organization that fosters food justice by improving physical health, economic independence and environmental sustainability in Lowell, MA through increased access to land, locally-grown food and education.
Darren has also previously served as the Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Brush Art Gallery & Studios, a non-profit organization that has supported working artists with studio space, art exhibitions, and creative education programs in Lowell, Massachusetts since 1982.
Prior to Microdesk, Rob worked as a Sales Director for a major financial institution where he managed a team of Account Managers that sold and serviced large institutional investors and investment managers. He has over 28 years of experience with selling and servicing large institutional accounts and managing and developing sales executives into successful professionals.
He graduated from The College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business. In addition to receiving an MBA from Boston University in 2009.
