The construction project lifecycle is comprised of several key phases including design, pre-construction, construction, and ongoing maintenance and operations. A hitch at any step can create long-lasting issues, schedule delays and budget increases. Both Autodesk and Microdesk have been diligently developing services and solutions to streamline this process and more fully guarantee project delivery.
Autodesk has recently launched a host of products dedicated to simplifying tasks at every stage of construction. The standout among them is Autodesk BIM Collaborate and BIM Collaborate Pro, an evolved version of the current BIM 360 Design suite with tailored capabilities for cross-team coordination.
What is Autodesk BIM Collaborate?
The Autodesk BIM Collaborate platform streamlines design and workflows, which allows architects, engineers, owners and administrative staff to review, markup and coordinate on the same project in real time. The platform includes access to the popular Model Coordination, Insight and Meeting Minutes modules. Model Coordination, currently available in BIM 360, allows designers to upload multiple models to create a master schematic complete with clash detection analysis. It also integrates with Navisworks Manage for additional functionality. The Insight module is a project tool that delivers data, analytics and predictive insights at both the project and account level. This gives project teams access to risk and safety assessment charts, and progression analytics among other information to stay on top of projects and become proactive instead of reactive.
Users of Revit, Civil 3D and Plant 3D should upgrade to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro for streamlined project collaboration and oversight. The ability to work across all products from anywhere and benefit from the cooperative capabilities available when a cloud-based project storage layer is added to each one.
Why Do I Need It?

Managing product data is difficult in the best conditions, but with teams continuing to be separated by geography and telework, real-time collaboration solutions that live in the cloud are a necessity. The main benefits to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro include the ability to:
- Combine all project data into a single source of truth.
- Avoid clashes and change orders by identifying issues during the design phase.
- Bring together several Autodesk products into a project information hub.
- Access analytics that can identify areas for improvement and opportunity.
- Work on a distributed team to create comprehensive master designs.
How Do I Get It?
BIM 360 Design customers will automatically receive access to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro via their Autodesk Account upon entering the BIM 360 application and selecting Unified Projects from the destination options. New licenses of Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro can be purchased through Microdesk.
