Microdesk Community Involvement

MICRODESK CARES

We’re proud of the communities in which we live and work, and giving back is an important part of our company values.

We’re passionate about engaging in our local communities and the world at large. Throughout each year, we provide volunteers and donations to many organizations. We’re always searching for new opportunities that positively influence the world as a whole. We encourage our team members to seek opportunities to volunteer in the community and sponsor charitable events.

We take pride in supporting the organizations and special events listed below as they strive to better our communities.

How Our Team is Helping Their Local Communities During COVID-19

Medical Face Masks

Microdesk’s Assistant Director of Enterprise Asset Management Shyla Vellal and her family used their technical design skills to 3D print COVID-19 face masks. Filters can be easily replaced, each part can be cleaned using disinfectant, and all components are biodegradable making these ideal for frontline and essential workers. 3D files and materials were made available by Lowell Makes, a non-profit shared lab and workshop open to the community.

Volunteering in Mumbai

After returning home in March to Mumbai, India for a family emergency, AECO Implementation Specialist Niranjan Prabhu was unable to return to the U.S. due to travel restrictions. He spent his time in India volunteering with a local pharmacy, the National Chemist, and caring for stray cats, dogs, and crows. He found the experience of helping homeless animals so rewarding that his family adopted two kittens upon their return to the U.S. Read his full story here.
