Targeting a Process for More Efficient Document Management

Raytheon is a 68,000 employee global organization that specializes in providing state–of–the–art electronics, mission systems integration, and command, control, communications and intelligence systems for the defense, security and civil markets.

Raytheon required a system that would provide Patriot Missile System field technicians with an interactive electronic field manual and troubleshooting aid to help them better navigate their massive stores of files and technical documents.

Microdesk, in partnership with M2 Technologies, developed an automated system that connected over 4,000 AutoCAD diagrams and cross-referenced them with their associated technical documentation text. A user–friendly viewing interface enables staff to easily perform queries for either keywords or fault codes and quickly navigate to the appropriate diagram within the graphics set.

The resulting system provides faster and more accurate troubleshoot capabilities with improved diagram accuracy thanks to the batch processorïs built-in validation capacity. This has fundamentally changed the way field technicians interact with and utilize their technical documentation.
