Washington D.C. September 20, 2018 – Microdesk’s AECO Strategic Implementation Manager, Kathryn Dreitzler, was selected to participate in the AIA|DC’s Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program. The development program, founded in 2013 by the American Institute of Architecture’s Washington Chapter is a year-long commitment that aims to develop, train and nurture the next generation of industry leaders.

Kathryn joins a team of 16 emerging industry professionals from the Washington D.C. area. During the program these scholars will focus on developing core professional skills such as entrepreneurship and firm management; teamwork and collaboration; negotiating skills; client development; community leadership; understanding trends within the industry; and developing their future within the practice.

Dreitzler has been an active member of the Washington Chapter of the AIA since moving to Washington D.C. She brings a deep understanding of the industry and eagerness to continue developing industry knowledge and leadership to the program. She states, “By participating in CKLDP I hope to gain knowledge on two scales. First, to have a greater understanding on how many of the larger issues, like globalization/specialization, diversity, and technology, are being considered in a variety of firm structures. Secondly, I hope to learn more on the industry-specific issues, such as writing proposals, firm hierarchy, business development, and entrepreneurship.”

Kathryn joined Microdesk in 2015 as a Solutions Specialist before taking on her current role as AECO Strategic Implementation Manager in Washington D.C. Prior to Microdesk, she worked as an Architectural Designer for the Hudson Yards and One Vanderbilt Tower projects at Kohn Pederson Fox.
