HOK, SPUR, & The Association for Vertical Farming to Headline San Francisco BuildingSuccess Event
San Francisco, CA. Oct. 4, 2016 – Building and infrastructure design technology consultancy, Microdesk, announced their next BuildingSuccess event, “BuildingSuccess San Francisco: Building a Sustainable Future in the Bay Area with Urban Agriculture,” to take place on November 10, 2016 at SPUR’s San Francisco office. The event will feature a panel discussion with design and policy leaders in urban agriculture.
The event will explore the challenges of balancing the booming Bay Area tech industry, which continues to drive development of new neighborhoods and housing, with the challenges of meeting the growing urban population’s demand for more food and resources. The event’s presenters will discuss innovative urban design concepts being explored around the world that leverage urban agriculture and vertical farming to help make cities more resilient and reduce their ecological footprint. They will also discuss whether these solutions, when coupled with current urban development policies, can feasibly play
a role in addressing our challenges in the Bay Area.
Presenters will include Eli Zigas, Food and Agriculture Policy Director at SPUR; Sean Event Details Quinn, Sustainable Design Director – Pacific Region at HOK; and Henry Gordon-Smith, Vice Chairman of the Board at the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF).
